The film portrays a world wracked by not just a virus, but a whole set of illness that come along with it — disorder, societal breakdown, the difficulties inherent in finding a cure, individuals who refuse to follow rules, people prioritize protecting their loved ones over the general public. It also explores the current dark sides of “rumors and fake news” and the dirty hands of opportunists.
