RELATED

The majority of Green Council members agree to let Aegon succeed Viserys. Lord Beesbury protests and is promptly killed by Ser Cristan Cole at the meeting table; Lord Commander wisely resigns on the grounds that there is currently no king for him to serve as his duty.

Lord Confessor tries to escape the capital city to inform Rhaenyra but he is captured and hanged. The cunning Larys Strong continues to be a stalker and informant. The current reward that Alicient offers him is to show her beautiful feet for his watching while masturbating.

The Green Council hide the news of Viserys' death from Princess Rhaenyra, keeping the king's body in his chamber for several days, while they fortify their allies, eliminate the opponents and prepares for Aegon's coronation.

There is a disagreement between Alicent and her father over how to deal with Rhaenyra. Otto wants to exterminate Rhaenyra and her family, but Alicent opposes.

Alicent orders Princess Rhaenys under detainment and tries to convince her to side with the Highttower, pledging to secure the Driftmark lordship for Rhaenys and her two nieces. Later, Ser Eryck manages to rescue Rhaenys so that she could escape the city, but the chaotic flow of people sweeps her to the Dragonpit where Aegon's coronation is to be kicked off.

When the Council summons Aegon, the Kingsguards discover he was gone. A search across the city, deep in the slums of Flea Bottom finally finds Aegon drunk and lifeless. At first, Aegon refuses to take the throne, but later accepts when Alicent convince him that it was Viserys' last wish.

After many days, the death of King Viserys I is finally announced and Aegon is declared the new king before the entire King's Landing population present at the Dragonpit.

In the climax of Aegon crown's applause, the "Red Queen" dragon Melys suddenly appears with Princess Rhaenys on her back, destroying the place in a brief moment, and is tempted to fire to burn them all; but eventually flies away, signaling the beginning of the great civil war - the bloody dance of the dragons.
