RELATED

Prince Daemon, believing that Viserys had been murdered, urges Rhaenys to wage war. Ser Erryk brings the late king's golden crown to Dragonstone and Rhaenyra is declared Queen; All present knee and swear allegiance, except Princess Rhaenys.

The Right Hand Otto went to Dragonstone to present Queen Alicent's terms to Rhaenyra's submission to the new King Aegon, in return for the Rhaenyra family's privileges and titles. Another trump card that Otto offers is a torn page from the "One Thousand Ships" book that Rhaenyra tore up and gave to Alicent when they were children (in Episode 1).

Reluctant, Rhaenyra stops Daemon from killing Otto and delays answering. Rhaenyra, fearing the prospect of a devastating war in her dream, as in the Song of Ice and Fire, hesitates in decisions; Daemon becomes angry when Rhaenyra refuses to declare war, and strangles her. He says that dreams don't make them kings, but dragons do. Soon after, Daemon manages to awaken the sleeping dragon Vermithor.

Princess Rhaenys persuades her survival husband, Lord Corlys, to uphold the pledge of allegiance to Rhaenyra from  House Velaryon, since they both fear for the future safety of their grandchildren if Aegon remains king.

With the Velaryon's commitment, Rhaenyra becomes bolder with the idea of war. However, to ensure victory, the Queen needs more allies from the lords, so she send her two sons, Prince Jacaerys and Prince Lucerys, covey messages of offers to Lady Jeyne Arryn, Lord Cregan Stark and Lord Borros Baratheon.

Riding the dragon Arrax to Storm's End, Lucerys discovers that Prince Aemond had been there before to meet Lord Borros Baratheon. Borros refuses to side with Rhaenyra, as Aemond had conveyed a better offer from the New King Aegon. Aemond wants revenge for the loss of his eye, so he asks to poke one of Lucerys's eyes. Borros declares that he would not allow Aemond to do so at his castle.

As Lucerys departs on his dragon Arrax, Aemond gives chase on the much bigger dragon Vhagar. The dragons ignore the rider's orders; Arrax breaths fire on Vhagar. Enraged, Vhagar kills Lucerys and Arrax with a single bite. Aemond is shocked by the unexpected tragedy and he also undestand that after this incident war would be inevitable.

Daemon informs Rhaenyra of Lucerys' death, leaving her devastated and indignant. In just a few days she experienced many tragic events: the death of her father, a miscarriage, the loss of the throne and now the death of her beloved second son.
