Following the events of the finale of the previous season, in Episode 1 Season 6 of CBS' Seal Team – “The Impact”, after being badly hit by an overhead RPG, Bravo 6 Clay Spenser is mortally wounded, his right leg almost gét crushed; other members suffer minor injuries. They had to continue to hold out in the enemy's ambush encirclement, under the onslaught of attacks both downhill and uphill.

Reviving after being attacked, Clay has to bandage his leg which is in a heavily contaminated state; He uses morphine to ease the pain and continue to support his teammates.
Bravo 1 Jason climbs through the enemy's deadly ammo to move uphill, capturing enemy RPG to take out some targets below, easing the tensions for his teammates.
Being rescued, Bravo are taken to Ramstein Air Base in Germany for treatment. It is a United States Air Force base in Rhineland-Palatinate, a state in southwestern Germany, that serves as the headquarters of the United States Air Force in Europe - United States Air Force Africa (USAFE-AFAFRICA) and also NATO Allied Air Command (AIRCOM).
Jason fells guilt over Clay's condition. He thinks that if he had previously admitted to his own brain injury (TBI) and withdrew from the campaign, perhaps Clay would not have joined to support and "protect" him but took a leave with his family as planned.
A severe infection in Clay's leg leads to anaphylaxis, forces the doctor to decide to amputate Clay's right leg to get him stabilized.
