Rhaenyra – Leanor – Harwin

Rhaenyra's three sons Jacaerys (Jace), Lucerys and Joffrey all have brown hair, not the Targaryen's typical silver.

Despite being named as Rhaenyra's husband, Leanor only has sex with men. Rumors are spreading in the capital that Harwin Strong - Commander of the City Watch was the biological father of 3 children. Harwin is the eldest son of the Right Hand Lyonel Strong.

On one occasion to protect Jace in a sword training, Harwin is provoked by Criston and attacks him in front of the King. This makes Lyonel want to resign as the Hand to bring Harwin back to the House's castle.

Tensions between Alicent and Rhaenyra

Queen Alicent pressures King Viserys to declare Rhaenyra's sons as bastards and illegitimate and entitled to no succession, but the king refuses.

While Viserys is aging, both Rhaenyra and Alicent join the Small Council to discuss the affairs of Westeros, and they often disagree with each other.

Alicent also teaches her eldest son Aegon to prepare himself to fight for the throne. Alicent confides to Larrys Strong (Lyonel's second son) that she wished her father would return to his position of  the Hand.

Daemon and Laena at Essos

Dragon Daemon on Caraxes and Laena on dragon Vhagar visit Essos with their two daughters Baela and Rhaena.

Prince Pentos offers them a lordship in exchange for an alliance against the Triarchy, who had retaken the Stepstones. Daemon is interested in the idea of staying here to forget about Westeros; while Laena wants to go back to her native Driftmark Island.

After a painful labor, Laena, unable to bear children, orders her dragon Vhagar to burn her alive.

Feeling suffocated by the gossips and the departure of Harwin, Rhaenyra decides to move with Laenor (and his mistress) and their children to Dragonstone.

In Harrenhal, Larrys Strong stages a fire at the castle, killing both his father and brother Lyonel and Harwin.
