James Bond star Pierce Brosnan has appeared in the newly released trailer of the movie Black Adam 2022. Pierce plays Doctor Fate - a magical superhero who is a member of the Justice Society of America.

Doctor Fate, whose real name is Kent Nelson, has boundless magical abilities such as flight, teleportation, time travel, invisibility, necromancy, etc., powered by a magical antique called the Hat of Fate. Kent got these powers through the teachings and empowerment of the ancient Egyptian god Nabu.

Doctor Fate is essentially akin to the Marvel Universe's Doctor Strange in many aspects.

While the magical world in general and Doctor Strange in particular have been brought to the screen by Marvel very early, the DC Cinematic Universe still lacks a superhero with magical abilities. Doctor Fate in Black Adam will fill this void for the first time.

This could pave the way for the appearance of Doctor Fate in future DC movie projects, be it Pierce Brosnan's Doctor Fate or younger versions of the Fate.
