The surprise for fans is that the Godzilla TV series will be released on Apple TV+ instead of HBO Max. Before that, the movie Godzilla Vs Kong 2021, also produced by Legendary Pictures, was distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures in theaters, and later on HBO Max.

Legendary seems to have tried to increase the commerciality of the product, and instead of offering it directly to HBO Max, it has offered "auction" to several clients and Apple TV was the "bid winner", maybe.

The series will follow the journey of a human family through the worlds where Titans, including Godzilla, reside. This family has a mysterious relationship with the Titans as well as with the Monarch - an organization dedicated to tracking monsters that still exist on earth.

At this time, there is no clue on whether human characters who have appeared in the previous Godzilla movies will join the series. However, what is certain is that Godzilla and many other Titans will appear.

The on-screen MonsterVerse begins with the 2014 Godzilla movie, followed by Kong: Skull Island 2017, then Godzilla: King of the Monsters 2019 and most recently Godzilla vs Kong 2021. This cinematic universe's total gross to date is over $2 billion globally.

In addition to this project, MonsterVerse is also expanding in its amine: Netflix is also developing a series about King Kong's life on Skull Island.
