In Episode "27 David" of SWAT Season 5, the reinstated SWAT 20 Squad, featuring Hondo, goes on to hunt down a gang that breaks into the Drug Enforcement Administration to rob the drug and money evidence being kept here.

Squad 20 is reconstituted and a new man is sent to lead the team, Sanchez – wearing the 20-David badge. Hondo wears a new badge of 27-David.

SWAT is sent to a cable factory to track down the group of people who cut the fence to break in, but the female owner of the facility later say they had not lost anything of value, because the location of the break-in is the storage of some of her late husband's old things.

After discovering some architectural sketches in the lost inventory, SWAT is concerned about the possibility that the target group is planning a mass murder attack. However, they then localizes and determine the likely target of the criminal group would be the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Building, which is containing a large amount of confiscated cash and drugs recently.

During the course of the case, the members of SWAT 20 express their dislike for the new leader. However, Sanchez later reveals that he was sent to the group to find out the inside story to report to his superiors.
