The Witcher - Henry Cavill - Season 1 Episode 1 - The End's Beginning

In The Witcher's Episode 1, Geralt fights with and kills a monstrous behemoth in the swamp before riding to the nearby village of Blaviken to find the alderman for bounty. 


He arrives in a bar where he faces hostility from local men, then a lady named Renfri helps him to ease the situation. It is later revealed to him that the behemoth he killed is not the one of demand. A local girl named Marilka approaches and persuades him to visit Stregobor wizard to exchange the monster's corpse for money.

Standing before the menacing tower of the wizard, Geralt heads in alone through a portal to meet the wizard. There, he learns the sorcerer wants him to kill a human – Renfri to be precise – a lady with talent for downing pints. The sorcerer implores Geralt take up the contract before he eventually runs into Renfri herself – the woman he met in the bar earlier in the episode. After giving her an ultimatum, he rides away.









In Cintra, Ciri  - the granddaughter of the Queen is playing with commoners then some royal soldiers come near to take her back to the palace where a banquet is held later that night. At the party, Queen Calanthe honours a parade of loyal soldiers, followed by dances. During the feast, Queen Calanthe receives bad news that the Nilfgaardian Empire is marching on the city, imposing big threat to her kingdom's future.


On the outskirts of Blaviken, Geralt gathers herbs to make one of those potions he's so fond of then Renfri appears, tells him that she was a Princess once, but Stregobor's men raped and cast her out of her kingdom, forcing her into desperate life. She's in Blaviken actually to seek revenge. This makes Geralt have to pick sides in Stregobor and Renfri's rivalry, so eventually he tells her to leave the town and forget the revenge. Bubble of sexual tension finally bursts between them and they spend the night together.


Outside Cintra, a fierce battle erupts between the Cintrans and the Nilfgaardian invaders—with Queen Calanthe and King Eist fighting on the front lines. An arrow by Cahir from remote suddenly slams into the King's eye, killing him instantly. The Queens retreats to the castle. The battle is lost and it's not long before the invaders reach Cintra and conquer it and slaughter all the people they meet. 


Before her suicide, the Queen tells Ciri to escape and find Geralt of Rivia – the man of her destiny.  Ciri is whisked away by Mousesack and Lazlo, but the black rider who killed the King earlier approaches and takes her away on the horse.


Back to Blaviken, Renfri seems to have had second thoughts about Geralt's proposal, so Geralt returns to the village to find Renfri where he fights with Renfri's men on the street. Then Renfri emerges from the shadows, holding Marilka hostage, threatening to kill all villagers. Geralt finally kills Renfri in the dramatic duel.

Back to Cintra, Ciri’s screams causes the horse to panic and kick her and her captor off, her next screams shakes the earth, giving her a chance to flee, escape into the woods.


In Blaviken, Stregobor appears and intends to take Renfri's body to his tower for an autopsy, but Geralt  urges him to leave her alone. But before he can act, the villagers turn on him, calling him  a beast, the Butcher of Blaviken, throw stones at him, and force him to immediately leave the town.
